This is a Kerala preparation that I used to like as a child.
Thinking of preparing a snack to take for our trip, suddenly I remembered this
and made.
Ingredients:
-
- 2 cups
rice flour
- - 1 cup grated coconut
- - ½ cup coconut milk (optional)
- -- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- - ½ tsp sesame seeds
- - Salt to taste
- - Water
- - Oil for frying
Instructions:
- - Roasted
the grated coconut till it turns light brown. Allow it to cool and grind into a
rough powder
- - Roast the rice flour on slow fire till the raw
smell goes.
- - Mix together the rice flour, coconut powder, cumin
seeds, sesame seeds, and salt (coconut milk optional) with water and knead into
a stiff dough.
- - Make small balls of gooseberry size, flatten
them out between the palms and make an impression on one side with a fork.
- - Fry them till golden brown.
- - Cool and store. It is a nice tea time snack.
